Everyone’s lashes look different and grow at different rates.

Scroll on TikTok or Instagram and you’ll come across videos about lash serums, filters that make lashes thicker and longer, creators that claim they have longer lashes while using lash extensions or false lashes, and so on.

It’s important to remember that lash growth serums and other products that promise to lengthen your lashes will of course work in the short term, but it won’t stop your lashes from falling out; that’s only part of their natural cycle.

There are so many reasons why some people might have stronger lashes than others, but some include:

Genetics – some people have genetically longer, thicker and naturally curled lashes.

Hormones – puberty can affect lash growth and hair health.

Daily habits – rubbing your eyes excessively can cause your lashes to fall out. Using old or expired mascara or not removing makeup properly can also lead to inflammation and damage of the hair follicles.

Balanced diet – if your diet has plenty of zinc and vitamins A, B and E, this can help to support the growth and strength of your lashes.
