What is blemish-prone skin?

This skin type is more common if your skin is on the oily or sometimes dry side.
It’s more likely to develop blemishes such as spots, whiteheads and blackheads.
It can be caused by excess sebum production, which clogs pores and leads to visible blemishes.
Sebum: a natural oily substance within the skin that helps to hydrate and protect it.
Having acne-prone skin is not the same as cystic acne, which is more extreme and inflamed, often more painful and can feature larger cysts.
Important: blemish-prone skin can be solved with cosmetic products, or everyday skincare. More serious acne might need a dermatologist or nutritionist – contact your GP for further advice.
How to look after this skin type: always double cleanse daily and use light exfoliating products every once in a while to make sure you’re properly decongesting your skin.
