Should I squeeze spots and blackheads?
Should I...
You might be asking, what is a blackhead?
Blackheads are clogged hair follicles on the skin that are filled with excess oil, sebum and dead skin, creating the appearance of a darker, sometimes ‘black’ pin-sized bump. All the good things.
They can be found on your face and body, but you’ll most often find them in oilier areas of the face, like your T-Zone (forehead, nose and chin).
Oily, combination and blemish-prone skin types will tend to be more prone to blackheads, since their skin is oilier. However, it’s totally normal for all skin types to have blackheads.
So, should I squeeze blackheads?
No, you shouldn’t squeeze them, for three main reasons:
• Skin damage: it can irritate or damage your skin, especially if you use your nails.
• Infection: it can spread dirt or bacteria from your hands to your skin, which can lead to infections.
• Blackhead growth: if you squeeze them often, blackheads can get worse or even bigger.
Ways to help prevent blackheads include:
• Keep your skin hydrated – our Clarifying HydroGel Moisturiser is great for this.
• Drink plenty of water throughout the day to maintain moisture in your skin.
• Cleanse thoroughly to remove all makeup and products every night – we love our Cleansing Pads and Clarifying Gel Cleanser.
