What are ceramides?

Ceramides are a natural component found within your skin. They’re often found in skincare products, as the natural levels of ceramides in your skin start to lower as you age.
A soothing ingredient, the main functions of ceramides are to add moisture, prevent water loss, help skin elasticity and strengthen the skin barrier, so that the skin becomes more resilient.
When is the right age to use it?
You’re safe to use ceramides throughout your teenage years, to build a barrier-boosting or ultra-hydrating skincare routine.
Why should teens use it?
Teens might need a little extra help with keeping the skin barrier balanced and intact, and ceramides are a gentle and effective ingredient to help support it. They’re also great if you have particularly dry skin – that’s why we add ceramides to the formula of our Hydrate & Nourish Tonic Milk.
Ceramides are suitable for all skin types, so they’re a versatile ingredient for teens to include in their everyday skincare routine.
