What is the best order to layer my skincare products?

Skincare

One of our top questions from teens is about the order that you should apply your skincare products, so that they absorb effectively together.
Since teen skin doesn’t need a complicated skincare routine, here’s the perfect application order for morning and evening. These are the only products teens need. Follow this easy order:

AM:

1. Oil or water-based cleanser – for clean skin
2. Tonic / toner – our Hydrate & Nourish Tonic Milk is great here
3. Moisturiser
4. Spot treatment (if needed)
5. SPF

PM:

1. Oil or water-based cleanser – double cleanse for extra clean skin
2. Exfoliator/scrub or mask (if needed), then wash / remove
3. Tonic/toner
4. Moisturiser
5. Spot treatment (if needed)

Why this order?

The general rule that we follow is always: from thinnest to thickest. Basically, from the most liquid, to the richest or more solid consistency. This allows each product to properly absorb and work its magic. Otherwise, applying a thicker product like a moisturiser before anything else would prevent the thinner products from absorbing, so they don’t work how they’re supposed to (and it’s a waste of your money!).

Always cleanse as the first step in any routine. This preps your skin for the hydrating, nourishing or clarifying products you use. As always, finish your morning routine with SPF.
