Top Eyeshadow Tips
Want to apply eyeshadow like the pros? We know you do...
If you don’t quite know your way around a palette yet and want to level up your beauty game, we’ve put together some top tips for eyeshadow beginners.
You’ve probably seen many a TikTok or YouTube video for the latest eyeshadow trends. Maybe you’ve tried it and it hasn’t quite looked like the tutorial, or it doesn’t look the same on you.
Everyone’s eye colours and shapes are different, and that means the way you apply it really matters...
1. Use multiple makeup brushes
Every brush has a different purpose, so get a larger fluffy brush for covering your whole lid, a dense brush for blending, and maybe an angled, more precise brush for along the lash line or in the crease. If you don’t have one, your fingers are a great tool too!
2. Use a primer or base coat
This will help the eyeshadow to stay longer throughout the day, and a neutral base colour is also a great starting point to then add more statement or smoky colour (if you want to).
3. Blend and build
Always start with a small amount of product, then build up to achieve your desired depth of colour.
Apply liquid eyeshadows to the back of your hand first to let it warm up, then dust over your lids with a fluffy brush.
If you don’t want to go all-out full coverage, you can try a popping winged liner. Take a bright shade and use an angled liner brush to draw a wing from the outer corners of your eyes.
4. Follow the crease
This is the natural fold in your eyelid – so unless you’re going for a really dramatic look, stay below this natural line and you avoid going overboard.
5. Do your eye makeup before your base
You don’t want to get glitter or eyeshadow fallout on your freshly prepped base, so perfect your eye artistry first, then you can wipe away the excess (our Cleansing Pads are great for this).
Start with a small amount of product, gently tapping the excess powder off before application – this will really help to reduce fallout.
