Common makeup mistakes

Makeup

You’ve got your skincare down, but maybe makeup isn’t your strong point? We’ve got some insider tips to help you apply your makeup like a pro and keep it looking flawless all day. Here are some common makeup mistakes, and how to fix them:

No skin prep – once you’ve got your skincare routine nailed, it’s something that should be a daily ritual, that you never skip. It’s the most important part of your ‘getting ready routine’, and will also help your makeup to sit properly on your face. If your skin needs a little extra help holding onto makeup, try a layer of primer after your SPF. Don’t forget to cleanse at the end of the day too!

No SPF – it might be a key part of your skincare routine, but remember that makeup does nothing for sun protection, so always apply SPF before your makeup!

Eyeshadow fallout – this is when excess eyeshadow falls beneath your eyes and lashes – it’s not ideal since it means you’ll need to reapply any base product or moisturiser if you have to remove the fallout. To avoid this, always do your eye makeup after skincare and before your base, and prime your eyelids before applying colour.

Applying makeup in artificial light – where you can, try to apply your makeup in natural light instead, for the most accurate application in colour and texture. This is a preview of what your makeup will look like when you step outside.
